At last! “Secrets” is out and ready to be downloaded to your Kindle. So, if you’re interested in new fiction, give this short read a try, and tell me what you think about it.
“Secrets” is the first volume of “Secrets, Lies, Dreams”, a short story collection that will offer a few surprises along the way. More about the whole series, after the third volume, “Dreams”, is published. There will also be a fourth one, but let’s focus on “Secrets” for the moment.
“Secrets” comprises three stories.
The first one, “Fatherly Love”, is about a young entrepreneur raised by his single father, who has to face his unresolved confusion over broken family ties, after he receives a visit from his younger brother.
“Hunger” was inspired by the Ukrainian Holodomor of 1932-1933, a historical event that made a powerful impression on me. The story is about a revered business and family man who used the biggest loss of his life as the inspiration to nurture others. It is my favorite story in this volume, and I would love to write a full-length novel about the extraordinary life of the main character.
The third story is named “Love Sick”, and it tells about a woman whose present happiness in love is threatened by the outcome of her former affair.
And now, with my heart on my sleeve, I have a few confessions to make. First of all, writing about my own writings is a total drag to me. I’m learning how to do it, and I’m adjusting my ideas about it, but I still have a long way to go until I feel more comfortable doing it. I am an introvert at core, I don’t explain myself much, and I have a natural inclination towards mysteriousness. These things are not part of a persona I’ve created, but basic components of my personality. In all honesty, I’m more interested in what you make out of my stories and what you think they’re about.
Confession number two: I’ve used the F word in my writing and it still haunts me. It suits the context and the characters, but… on an emotional level I feel a bit challenged to just let it be.
Third confession? I love it when personal boundaries are changing 🙂
I invite you to be a part of this journey and play a game with me. Purchase and read “Secrets”, then come back here and tell me in a comment which of the three stories you would like to read more about. We’ll play the same game with “Lies” and “Dreams”, and at the end of the series, new writing projects will result according to your preferences. Exciting, isn’t it?
And one more thing. If you find any mistakes in my writing, don’t hesitate to point them out to me, please. I appreciate that beyond words 😀
