We all get fear sown deep inside out hearts when we’re little – for one reason or another. Those seeds grow into narrow cages for our hearts, controlling beats, and even blood flow, especially to our brains. So, we split into heart and mind, we survive in between standard limits, with just about the right amount of blood to function at quotidian levels, never moving too much, not straying out of our comfort zones.
Confinement is comfortable only if you’re accepting it, so, every attempt to stretch beyond the old cage of fear is painful. This pain is the signal that you’re getting closer to freedom. Your heart can make it. Your heart must make it, if it is to grow stronger.
Fear is inevitable. When we are young, it just creeps in, often helped by the best intentions of those who care about us. However, as we grow, we can acknowledge that fear has only the power we allow it to have over us. The moment we become aware that fear drastically limits our lives, we can see our way out of the tyranny of our own disproportionate projections.
Fulfillment, wholeness, meaning, joy, love, harmony – they can only be found outside the cage of your fears, on a territory of risk and unknown, where battles and pain may happen, but you get to be everything you truly are.
There’s more to life than being a canary singing a lonely song. Spread your wings and fly!
